What we do is about people, and our job will always be the human part of the job. We've been exposed to plenty of click-baity apocalyptic drivel about machines taking our jobs, and to its utopian counterpart. The truth is that most of us have no idea what this means for business, and we shouldn't pretend otherwise. In that Empire, the Art of Cartography attained such Perfection that the map of a single Province occupied the entirety of a City, and the map of the Empire, the entirety of a Province. A map at 1:1 scale is identical to the territory and therefore useless. A perfect simulation of us would age badly or turn into parody. That is the test we apply. ## What we do use it for - Drafting, summarising and restructuring material a human then edits and signs. - Research and synthesis, with the sources checked before anything is claimed. - Code, tests and tooling, reviewed by whoever is accountable for shipping it. ## What we don't - Publishing anything under a person's name that the person did not write. - Feeding client data into tools whose retention terms we haven't read. - Replacing the part of the job that clients are actually paying for: judgement. ## Why it's written down We work in an industry where people put their money where our mouths are. What we say matters, and whether we can be trusted matters more. A policy nobody published is a preference, not a commitment.
